WebQuest and Mobile App

Well, I got my grade for my WebQuest. I am satisfied, not thrilled with it. It is what it is. I do believe that I will use it in my class next year and I hope the students are receptive to it.

I spent about 8 hours on Sunday and Monday working on the actual Mobile App not the design. Whoops! I went to submit my app and saw that we had to just do the design first. Describing the app that I did create and what I actually wanted to happen took me about 2 hours to complete. Here's hoping that Dr. Ingram won't penalize me for the design and likes the app!

  1. Whoops! Since you've already created the app, were you able to actually implement most of your ideas? What app creation software did you use? My app design is so complex that my actual app is nowhere near the design. I'm trying the AppyPie software for mine, which is easy to use, but doesn't have a ton of customization options.

    1. Also, no idea why my Wordpress icon and name didn't come through right on the comments -- This is Katie, lol.

    2. Hi Katie! I used Cleverize because it was the only one that would do most of what I wanted to do for my math app. Ideally, I want the app to create math problems on the fly for students to practice. I don't have the programming knowledge to do that. So I had the app have flashcards for them to practice and get immediate feedback and then a test section for them to get delayed feedback.

Feel free to look at it! I have some comments on the app itself in the About this App section. It isn't very pretty and adaptable but it was the closest to what I wanted to do!

  2. I had to start working on the app itself before I felt comfortable submitting my design. I get that our design should allow for capabilities that the app builder perhaps cannot do for us, but I needed a general feel for how it would work before my design. Just waiting on Dr. Ingram's comments on my design to finish up the app.

And it's great you were able to design a webquest that your student will be able to use. Not being in a school at the moment sometimes it's hard to make things up that you hope will be helpful.

    1. I sometimes feel it is easier to create and design as I go instead of do the design first in many things that I do. I am glad to see that I am not the only one!
